[Solved] PDF Not Opening in Chrome

If you’re clicking a web pdf URL on Chrome, but the pdf fails to display, instead, you see a black screen or the file is downloaded on your computer, you’re not alone. Many Chrome user are reporting it. But the good news is you can fix it easily by yourself.

Here’re 3 methods your can try to fix this problem. You may not have to try them all; just work down the list until you find the one that works.

Method 1: Disable Use hardware acceleration when available
Method 2: Check the PDF documents setting in your Chrome
Method 3: Update your Chrome

Method 1: Disable Use hardware acceleration when available

1) Click the more options button  on your Chrome. Then click Settings.

2) Click Advanced.

3) Make sure Use hardware acceleration when available in System is unchecked.

4) Restart your Chrome and click the web pdf URL to see if it could be open.

Method 2: Check the PDF documents setting in your Chrome

1) Click the more options button  on your Chrome. Then click Settings.

2) Click Advanced.

3) Click Content settings.

4) Click PDF documents.

5) Make sure Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome is unchecked.

6) Restart your Chrome and click the web pdf URL to see if it could be open.

Method 3: Update your Chrome

1) Click the more options button  on your Chrome. Then click Help  About Google Chrome.

2) Your Chrome should then be updated automatically.

3) Restart your Chrome and click the web pdf URL to see if it could be open.
