If you run into error Unable to start the Bluetooth stack service, don’t worry. You can easily fix the error with one of the solutions below.

We’ve put together four solutions below to fix the error. You may not have to try them all; just work your way down until you find the one that works for you.

Solution 1: Check for Bluetooth Support Service
Solution 2: Uninstall then Reinstall the Bluetooth Device Drivers
Solution 3: Update the Bluetooth Device Drivers
Solution 4: Perform a System Restore

Solution 1: Check for Bluetooth Support Service

The error would occur if the bluetooth support service is not started. Follow steps below to check for service status.

1) On your keyboard, press Win+R (the Windows logo key and the R key) at the same time to invoke the Run box.

2) Type services.msc in the run box and click the OK button.

3) From the Name list, locate Bluetooth Support Service. Right-click on it and select Properties.

4) Change the “Startup type” to Automatic and click the Start button to start the service.

5) Click Apply -> OK.

6) Restart your PC for the changes to take effect, and check to see if the problem is resolved.

Solution 2: Uninstall then Reinstall the Bluetooth Device Drivers

The problem can be caused by faulty bluetooth device driver. You can uninstall the bluetooth device driver and reinstall it to see if this resolves the problem.

You can follow these steps to uninstall and reinstall the driver:

1) On your keyboard, press Win+R (the Windows logo key and the R key) at the same time to invoke the Run box.

2) Type devmgmt.msc in the run box and click OK.

3) Expand category “Bluetooth Radios”, right click on one bluetooth device and select Uninstall. (If you see more than one bluetooth device under this category, uninstall them one by one.)

4) Restart your computer and check to see if the problem is resolved.

Solution 3: Update the Bluetooth Device Drivers

If uninstalling the bluetooth device driver doesn’t work for you, you can try to update the driver. If you don’t have the time, patience or computer skills to update the driver manually, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy.

Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it. You don’t need to know exactly what system your computer is running, you don’t need to risk downloading and installing the wrong driver, and you don’t need to worry about making a mistake when installing.

You can update your drivers automatically with either the FREE or the Pro version of Driver Easy. But with the Pro version it takes just 2 clicks (and you get full support and a 30-day money back guarantee):

1) Download and install Driver Easy.

2) Run Driver Easy and click Scan Now. Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.

3) Click the Update button next to a flagged bluetooth driver to automatically download the correct version of this driver, then you can manually install it (you can do this with the FREE version).

Or click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of all the drivers that are missing or out of date on your system (this requires the Pro version – you’ll be prompted to upgrade when you click Update All).

4) After updating the driver, check to see if the problem is resolved.

Solution 4: Perform a System Restore

Many Windows users reported that they met this error after using Norton registry cleaner. If you have installed one, maybe that’s the reason. In this case, try to perform a System Restore.

If you have done any changes to your computer before this error occurs, you can also try to perform a System Restore.

Hopefully you can fix the error with the tips above. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave your comment below. We’d love to hear of any ideas and suggestions.
