Try these fixes:
You don’t have to try them all; just work your way down the list until you find the one that works for you.
Fix 1: Add ESO into exception
The Elder Scrolls Online would not work properly when the program is blocked by your firewall or antivirus software. Therefore, please add an exception for the game through your Antivirus and Windows defender firewall.
Each antivirus software is different, you can view its official website for full instructions.
Here’s how to allow the ESO launcher through the firewall.
1) Press Windows logo key + S to open Windows search. Enter firewall and select Windows Defender Firewall to open it.
2) Click the Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall from the left panel.
3) Click Change settings button and check both Private and Public options for items related to ESO or ESO launcher.
4) Click OK button to save changes. Then reboot the game to check the issue persists or not.
Fix 2: Delete the program data
If the program data has corrupted, you may encounter the ESO not loading issue. In this case, we need to delete corrupted files. The launcher will redownload missing files automatically.
- Close the ESO Launcher completely.
- Navigate to the patch installation folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\Launcher\ProgramData.
Note: THe file location might differ according to your configurations.
- Find and delete the ProgramData folder.
- Restart the ESO Launcher to check.
Fix 3: Repair the launcher
When the game is not loading or stuck on the loading scree, you can repair the launcher to fix the issue. If any files are found to have problems, the launcher will re-download those files.
- Right-click on the ESO launcher and click Run as administrator.
- When the launcher is completely open, click Game Options.
- Select the Repair option from the dropdown menu.
Note: If multiple ESO clients are installed and available through the launcher, make sure you have the correct version highlighted by clicking on it once.
- The launcher will reinstall missing files, wait for the process to finish.
- Relaunch the game and check to see if the issue persists.
Fix 4: Update your driver
The Elder Scrolls Online is an online game that requires connecting servers. Make sure you have a stable network with updated drivers. Updating your drivers to the latest version always help. With the latest working driver, you’ll have a better gaming experience.
There are two ways you can update your driver: manually and automatically.
Option 1 – Manually– You’ll need some computer skills and patience to update your drivers this way, because you need to find exactly the right the driver online, download it and install it step by step.
Option 2 – Automatically (Recommended)– This is the quickest and easiest option. It’s all done with just a couple of mouse clicks – easy even if you’re a computer newbie.
Option 1 – Download and install the driver manually
You can download graphics drivers from the manufacturer official website. Search for the model you have and find the correct driver that suits your specific operating system. Then download the driver manually.
