Logitech Mouse Not Working in Windows 10 [Solved]

By Camilla Mo in Technical Tips

After you upgrade your system to Window 10, your Logitech mouse doesn’t work properly or doesn’t work at all, the problem most probably caused due to driver issues. The mouse driver might be removing, outdated, incompatible with the new system, or driver conflicts occur. Most often, you can resolve the problem by updating the drivers.

You can go to Device Manager to check if there is problem with Logitech Mouse driver. If there is a yellow mark next to the mouse device, the driver is not working properly.

Before updating drivers, try the following tricks first. They may work like a charm on your case.

1. Unplug the mouse and plug the mouse again.
2 . Test the mouse on a different USB port.

Following methods are for your reference how to update Logitech Mouse drivers.

1. Use Windows Update

You can use Windows Update to check for the updates in Windows 10. It may detect the right mouse driver automatically. If this feature in your Window 10 has been set to install updates automatically, you can disregard this way.

2. Update the Driver Manually

You can go to Logitech website then download the Logitech drivers here: http://support.logitech.com/en_us/downloads

Please make sure you download the right driver, as wrong driver may cause problems. After you download the driver, usually, you can just double click on the downloaded file then follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.

3. Update the Driver Automatically

If you don’t have patience, time or computer skills to update the drivers manually, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy.

Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it. You don’t need to know exactly what system your computer is running, you don’t need to risk downloading and installing the wrong driver, and you don’t need to worry about making a mistake when installing.

You can update your drivers automatically with either the FREE or the Pro version of Driver Easy. But with the Pro version it takes just 2 clicks (and you get full support and a 30-day money back guarantee):

1) Download and install Driver Easy.

2) Run Driver Easy and click Scan Now button. Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.

3) Click the Update button next to the Logitech mouse driver to automatically download and install the correct version of this driver (you can do this with the FREE version). Or click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of all the drivers that are missing or out of date on your system (this requires the Pro version – you’ll be prompted to upgrade when you click Update All).

I used Microsoft for business reasons for well over 40 years. Windows 10 destroyed my I7 Toshiba. I used my Wife’s old PC running Win7 to download an Ubuntu 16.04 installation disk. I installed Ubuntu 16.04 onto the Toshiba. Almost two years later and there is nothing I can’t run. Runs Windows software. Does not need virus protection. Recently my Wife’s PC was forced to upgrade to Windows 10. Immediately after the “upgrade” her relatively new Logitech wireless mouse stopped working. I will be setting up an older PC with Ubuntu and installing Microsoft Office 2010 for here as here machines continue to degrade because of Windows 10 and Microsoft. Do yourself a favor and make the transition now. You will never regret the move. While you’re at it, swithc away from the Google search engine. The European serch engines give results that you can actually use. Also, Try Opera…it has a free “VPN”. And take a look at email programs like Proton. Or not. I like making informed decisions. Peace.

After upgrading from win7 pro to win 10 pro, my Logitech G500s mouse was seen by windows as a keyboard and thus would not work.
I tried unplugging/re-plugging, different usb ports, uninstall and let windows re-find, updating drivers (none available from Logitech). The fix was simple, Uninstall the Logitech gaming software, then Reinstall the gaming software. All set problem solved.

My Mouse, shows up in Device Driver, its shows it as functional, yet WILL NOT work. New Logitech drivers, all windows updates current.

Its a brand new ASUS X541U, unboxed last night.

Any ideas, I have tried another Logitech mouse as well, no luck.

I’m having this same exact problem with another brand wireless mouse. If you come across the answer please post here – I will do same.

Thanks for the post, and especially your intro. I’m an old computer geek, so maybe I shouldn’t need this kind of help and reminder; but I’m more focused on using my computer that all the little weird crap that can happen in terms of drivers, etc.

Your suggestion about testing the mouse on a different USB port finally get my head in gear. I replaced a still functional but very old battery in my wireless mouse. Works a lot better now!

My issue is odd in that it only affects certain games… my middle mouse button (old school Logitech Track-Man cordless), does NOT work for Witcher 3, Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and several others, when it DID work fine on them before upgrading to Win 10.
It works fine in every other application (i-net browsers, explorer, notepad, wordpad… etc), so I know its not a hardware issue.
Have tried updating drivers from the device manager, manually installing Logitechs latest drivers… no change.
Oh and one other thing is that often times when I reboot I have to physically unplug and plug back in the USB cord for the receiver unit for the wireless mouse/keyboard before windows sees either of them so I can log into Windows… but not every time I reboot.

There is no choice to use the keyboard when it too has died along with the Mouse. The problem only seems to affect PCs that originally came with Windows 7. Pressing and holding the power button during start up eventually led to the troubleshooting page but without the ability to select anything it too was useless. A corded mouse eventually saved the day. I rolled back Build 1607 to 1511.

My mouse worked fine before Windows 10. There is only a problem when trying to operate the mouse on the mouse pad itself. It skips around and almost has a mind of its own. When I use the mouse on my desk, it works fine. For some reason, it will not operate properly on the mouse pad after Windows 10. I have tried changing batteries to no success.

My problem is the mouse does not highlight text properly. You are supposed to be able to highlight text and hold it to cut and paste, copy, etc…my mouse is not holding the text…very frustrating. Will try your fix and report back

I have the same problem Logitech M705 wireless mouse

Battery died in track man wireless mouse without any on screen warning after installing W10. Mouse froze. Had to use keyboard to restart windows after putting new battery in mouse. Mouse eventually started working after many wireless and mouse reset button presses and windows restarts. Found software was not up to date so installed current version. Maybe the low battery indicator will work now but it never has before. Kinda impressed Logitech is still supporting a legacy mouse though, sort of.

Try another USB gate. If this works go to the device manager and uninstall the mouse and the keyboard and start the computer again.
      Hopefully this will work.
It did it on my computer

    Use your touchpad!

    • RandomPointy

For example, playing World of Warcraft or other PC games usually need a good working mouse. Also, some people’s touchpads don’t work, even if they press F6.
